$130/per class for the entire session*

New Hope Community Church is committed to providing a quality after school program that is fun, safe, and enriching, where children can explore their interests and develop valuable life skills in a nurturing environment. Classes include archery, golf, visual art, guitar, Hip Hop dance, and musical theater, offering a diverse range of activities that cater to various passions and talents.

Spring 2026 Session | April 6 - May 29

*No class on Memorial Day (May 25, 2026)

Showcase is held during the last week of class.

Classes are held at New Hope Community Church unless otherwise noted. Archery & Golf are held outdoors. $130 fee covers the whole session, regardless of the number of classes in that session.

Archery, Ages 8-Adult | Mondays, 4-5pm

Introduction to archery teaches fundamentals of the sport. Safety skills are emphasized as a major priority. Students are also prepared for high level training. This is a great opportunity for the whole family!

About the Instructor: Shane Jost has been shooting for over a decade, and has practiced both traditional and competitive archery styles. He has been studying aviation at Miramar College, and aspires to join the Air National Guard as a pilot.

Golf, Ages 8-13 | Fridays, 3-5pm

Exciting opportunity for students to be introduced to the game of golf. The class will help students learn and apply basic golf technique to iron shots, chipping, pitching, and putting. Equipment is provided. Classes take place at local golf courses.

Please note: There is also an additional $30 green fee for this class.

About the instructor: "Coach" Paul Daniels has been teaching and coaching in the South Bay communities since 1970. Aside from golf, he's also taught strength & fitness training, volleyball, soccer, swimming and football.

Classical Guitar, Ages 10-13, Tuesdays 5-6pm

In this course we will cover the fundamentals of playing guitar and reading music. Students will learn the parts of the guitar, how to hold the guitar, proper hand and finger positioning, and how to read music in the first position on all 6 strings. Most importantly, students will learn how to have fun playing music and being creative.

*Students must provide their own instruments.

About the instructor: Gary Robertson has been a performing guitar player and teacher since high school. He initially started in music as a vocalist, but became the bass player in a well-regarded band “Small Wonder” from Long Beach and developed a reputation as a solo finger style player and songwriter.

Hip Hop, Ages 5-13 | Wednesdays, 4-5pm

This class teaches the fundamentals of hip hop movement for students ages 5-13. They are upbeat, fun, and high energy. Stretching, rhythms, body isolation, upper body strength, and footwork will be incorporated. Students will memorize choreography by working on combinations each class.

About the instructor: Abby Roldan has a strong background in hip hop and musical theater, loves sharing that passion with students through creative movement and performance. Her hobbies include running, spending time outdoors, and listening to music

Musical Theater, Ages 5-13 | Wednesdays, 5-6pm

This Musical Theater class is a unique combination of acting, dancing, and singing, designed to give students a dynamic overview of the performing arts while allowing them to create, perform, and express themselves.

Ukulele, Ages 7-12 | Tuesdays, 4-5pm

This is a new class! The ukulele is used as a good way to introduce musical skills and knowledge. It is easier than guitar, especially for younger learners. Students must provide their own instrument.

About the instructor: Lisa Cobb is a Visual Arts instructor who helps children build confidence through crafting and art-making. She has been with New Hope After School for over 10 years! She plans a variety of projects each session, offering a chance to explore materials and techniques that some children have never tried before.
