Ryu Karate is of Japanese origin and deals with attacks through evasive body movements and counter attacks using kicks, punches and strikes. Joint locks, restraints, and take downs are used to a lesser extent. It is practiced as a form of self-defense and as a way of keeping healthy and fit. As self-defense, it teaches a set of principals that can be applied in any situation. As a method for keeping healthy and fit, it develops balance, coordination, and aerobic fitness. It also challenges the brain and requires constant mental alertness and agility. The three important aspects of this beginning class will be the following:
Kihon – gaining an understanding of how your body moves in order to generate as much power as possible with a minimal effort.
Kata – traditional predetermined patterns of Karate ranging from beginning to advanced.
Kumite – Sparring, where techniques of Kihon and Kumite are applied.
The goal of this beginning Karate class is to build confidence within your child. We believe in building strength from the inside out.

Our Visual Arts classes offer creative activities that are the building blocks of a child development. Students will develop the ability for creative thought and action in a fun and challenging environment. Classes include a quickly paced examination and demonstration of visual arts fundamentals with exposure to different mediums. Projects are inspired by master artists like Monet and Kandinsky, beginning the exposure of students to art history and art appreciation. Classes are structured in increasingly challenging projects and mediums from Art I through Print Making. Even if your little artist is already using a medium, each student gets the attention they need to achieve a greater mastery as they grow in ability. This session also allows the opportunity for students to participate in a showcase at the end of each session. Their Art will be incorporated into the visual aspect of the program so that their art can be enjoyed by everyone. Artists of all levels are welcome in our classes!
Classes are offered to take students from basic ballet structures and etiquette to the learning of more advanced terms and exercises.
