Fasting is Biblical. Prayer and fasting is practiced regularly through the Bible. We see God’s people in both the Old Testament and New Testament pray and fast in order to seek God’s face and what He is calling them to.
Nehemiah 9, Esther 4, Matthew 4
According to the dictionary, the word “fast” means “to suffer hunger” or “abstain from food or drink”.
The Biblical purpose of fasting is to create a space of time for developing spiritual intensity for pursuing closeness with God. For this reason, fasting without prayer is not a biblical activity.
1 Corinthians 9:27, Esther 4:16, Jonah 3:5-9
The goal is to get closer to God and set our hearts on seeking Him first and above all.
Each day, we ask that you please pray for the following areas:
- Pray for our country and city (leaders, revival in our land)
- Pray for New Hope (our staff, our congregation, our influence in our community and for God's power in our church)
- Pray for those suffering around the world (persecution, poverty, diseases, those that do not know the Lord)
- The global Christian Church (influence, preaching of God's Word, God's power in dark places, missionaries, courage).
